Documenting how artists and cultural workers respond to artificial intelligence: through refusal, organising, negotiation and artistic practice, and through changes in consent, labour and control.
Scope & chronology
The archive centres on artistic practice around the world, including visual art, illustration, photography, music, literature, performance, film, games and cultural institutions. Judgments, agreements and policies are included when they directly affect artistic production, display, licensing or labour.
Dated entries are the starting point. Cases connect changes over time; documents and sources support cross-reading. The annotated chronology and cross-indexing approach draws on Lucy R. Lippard’s Six Years, without reproducing its text or layout. Different places and positions coexist without a predetermined sequence of stages.
Absence from this collection does not mean that an event did not occur. Unverified leads are excluded from the source-checked chronology. Global coverage continues to develop.

The cited material has been read and supports the summary. This does not mean every allegation has been independently verified or that research on the case is complete.
Distinguish claims from interpretation
Institutional statements, reporting, allegations and court findings are identified separately. Editorial research questions are interpretations, not additional historical facts.
Preserve date precision
Year-only and month-only dates retain that precision. Event, announcement, publication and access dates have different meanings. Plans, approvals, effective dates and implementation are distinct.
Documents, originals & translation
The collection currently consists of metadata, short summaries, necessary brief excerpts and original links. A catalogue entry does not automatically imply a saved full text, web capture, image or recording. Missing verified captures are explicitly noted.
The archive provides Chinese and English research texts while retaining original-language titles, credits and links. Translations include AI assistance and have not been independently human-reviewed. Translations and paraphrases are not presented as participants’ verbatim words. Rights in third-party materials remain with their respective rights holders.
Citation & updates
Every record has a stable identifier. Cite its title, identifier, page URL and your access date. New developments are added as events; factual corrections retain the identifier and record their reason, source and date.
This is an evolving research edition. Collection counts change with research and do not indicate an exhaustive history.
